Rolling Hills Chorus thrives because of the energy and style of the people who have stepped up to lead. Here are a few of the people that make our ensemble tick:
Rolling Hills Chorus is delighted to have Lucy Heinkel as our music director. The chorus enjoys Lucy's leadership, enthusiasm, knowledge of music, and delight in continued learning that make each rehearsal and performance a joy. Lucy began directing the chorus in 2005. Along with conducting performances and annual shows, she has led the chorus to success in Sweet Adelines North Pacific Region 13 competitions, winning first place in our division several times.
Lucy holds a BA in music education from Brigham Young University. She has taught music in grades 1-12 and presently is a substitute teacher. She actually started singing with Sweet Adelines when she was 3 years old since her mother, Jo Yetter, is a charter member of the Rolling Hills Chorus. Presently, mom Jo and sister Kari sing with the chorus, and aunt Esther is recently retired. When not teaching, coaching or conducting, Lucy makes her home n Kennewick, WA with her husband Don, sons Trevor and Austin, and daughter Natalie (just arrived May 28, 2015).
Lucy is assisted in guiding the musical life of the chorus by assistant director Kathy Brown and Visual Coordinator Lisa Carpenter along with our music team, visual team, and coaches from across the Sweet Adelines organization. We never stop learning!
Kathy Brown has served as the Assistant Director of Rolling Hills Chorus since 2006. She joined the chorus in 1999 and has held several key positions with the chorus leadership. A graduate of WSU with an accounting degree, Kathy has been instrumental to the financial success of the chorus. Her love of music and harmony have been motivating factors in her decision to accept the Assistant Director position. She is also the lead section leader. Kathy is married with 3 adult daughters, and is a full time grandma to three totally awesome grandsons!
